We are very happy to announce that Zodeq will be sponsoring the Young Chamber programme in 2018. Young Chamber is run by West Cheshire and North Wales Chamber of Commerce, for whom we are strategic members. Its purpose is to work with schools and colleges in the local area, helping students gain vital knowledge and skills of the working world with the help of local businesses.
For many students, the world of work is an ominous prospect due to a lack of opportunity to gain insight into businesses, and research has shown that 88% of businesses do not believe that school leavers are ready to join the workforce. The Young Chamber programme aims to tackle this by providing numerous opportunities and experiences for young students to network with local businesses and ultimately improve their career prospects.
Furthermore, with a severe skills shortage predicted over the next decade, working with schools and colleges to prepare pupils for their working life will not only benefit them but the business community as a whole.
For schools working with the Young Chamber programme the benefits are vast, including opportunities for student work experience, talks from local businesses, work place projects set by industry experts and meeting Ofsted and Estyn requirements through preparing pupils for future employment.
Here at Zodeq we were extremely impressed by the fantastic work that the Chamber is carrying out to assist young people in preparing for their future careers, and we wanted to get involved. Not only will we be assisting pupils in discovering new skills and helping to inspire their career direction, but it will also be a great opportunity for the team to gain fresh perspectives and insights from the future workforce.
