The business world has experienced an extraordinary amount of change over the past two years, predominantly as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Whilst sadly the pandemic led to the closure of a number of businesses, countless others highlighted their resilience to adapt to ever-changing restrictions and, as a result, are thriving.
So, what will the next 12 months bring for businesses throughout the UK? We take a look at just some of things we expect in 2022 below…
Business growth
The rebounding economy has surpassed all expectations in 2021, particularly in light of the impact that numerous lockdowns and restrictions had on businesses across multiple industries. But nevertheless, businesses have bounced back amazingly quickly. Many businesses have already experienced this growth to an extent, but with investment in business expected to rise to the highest levels in years in 2022, we expect business growth to provide a huge boost for the economy in the new year.
Flexible working to continue
Although the government has once again asked people to work from home where possible, we expect many businesses to adopt this way of working long after restrictions have once again lifted. Whilst not an option for every business, offering flexible working not only allows businesses to recruit further afield and therefore widening the pool of qualified people able to take on a role, but it also widens the scope for new clients.
An influx of start-ups
If this year’s start-up activity is a sign of what’s to come, then 2022 will see an influx in start-up businesses throughout the UK. Despite the challenges of the COVID-19 lockdown, it inspired many to take that leap into the role of business owner. We have particularly seen this in the recruitment industry, largely due to its growth in recent months.
